Instructor: Isabelle Nelson
Isabelle Nelson is a graduate of the New Zealand School of Dance and upon graduating secured work with JAVA Dance Co. Isabelle has been a part of New Zealand based JAVA Dance Company’s work since early 2011 and has thoroughly enjoyed the challenges and rewards of working as a professional dancer with the Company as well as a freelance dancer. She has toured both nationally and internationally with JAVA Dance Company, doing work that ranges from teaching workshops and performances throughout primary and secondary schools of New Zealand to works in Festivals throughout NZ and Australia. Working alongside the freelance dance community, JAVA Dance Company and participating in regular dance workshops has provided Isabelle with the opportunity to work with some of New Zealand’s greatest choreographers, performers and teachers.
She originally came to Europe to attend Dance Festivals such as Deltebre Dansa in Spain and Impulstanz, Austria and then was able to stay on with a sponsor to continue dance training in The Netherlands. She spent 2014 working alongside‘FUSION DeKISS Moves’ Dance Company, The Netherlands where they went on to perform in the Finals for ‘Hollands Got Talent,’ and received the vote for ‘Audiences Favorite.’
2015 has seen her work with various choreographers and performing for ‘DansMakers Open Podium’.as well as for ‘New Dance Company’ Amsterdam, performing in various venues in NL and in Skopje Festival, Macedonia. She has taught at Amsterdam Dance Centre, The International School (AICS) Amsterdam and is currently working on a project under House of Makers this summer. She seeks to comment on relevant social realities whilst transcending boundaries between differing art mediums as well as contributing to the community – primarily with the youth. As of 2015 she is a leader for the ‘Youth Performance Group’ for SGI Netherlands.
