Guillermo Blinker was Born in Amsterdam . At the age of 11 he started his dance training at the Lucia Marthas Dance Aademy. He was trained in Ballet tap-dance and all the branches of jazz, from modern jazz to Broadway jazz and everything in between. Strongly attracted to hip hop music and dance he started taking Classes and Workshop outside of the academy at Jakes Dance Factory, Eszteka Dance Studios, Moves and more. At this time he was also working as a freelance commercial dancer. At the age of 19 Guillermo met Vraja Sundari Keilman the Choreographer of the contemporary dance company Samadhi Dance Company and joined the company for 4 years. Eager to learn more about contemporary dance Guillermo auditioned for The Rotterdam Dance Academy ( Codarts ) to join the Dance Department and specialize In Choreography. There Guillermo had the space and time to enhance his technique and go deeper into his personal style that became a fusion of elements from jazz hip hop and contemporary dance movement using the concept of moving in and out of fluidity to blend different dynamics, spatial patterns and isolated movements. In New York Guillermo continued his training, research focused on blending styles. Sinds 2012 he’s been a frequent guest choreographer/teacher at the Joffrey Ballet School New York. Currently Guillermo is working internationally as a freelance dancer, choreographer and teacher Class Description int/adv ( prior dance training is adviced ) Contemporary I focus on elongation, strength fluidity and transition in my yoga based warm up. Finding a smooth and comfortable way to move through the body is key. I work a lot on isolations and creating path ways through the body and space by connecting isolations in a sequence. In the class material communicating the movement is the main focus. We will work on musicality, intention, dynamics and flow. I always strive to find a nice balance between technique spatial projection and groove.
