Instructor: Catherine Strawbridge
Born in the UK and raised in Malta, Catherine was a member of Malta’s renowned YADA Dance Company for 13 years (1994 – 2007). During this time, she performed in various theatrical and television productions, operas, music videos, musical productions etc., both in Malta and internationally, namely Sicily, Sardinia, Portugal, Tunisia, Denmark, Spain, Dubai, Turkey, Switzerland, Tripoli and Cyprus.
She also co-produced and co-ordinated all of the company’s engagements and productions both at home and abroad (1998 – 2003), as well as playing various solo roles including the lead supporting role of ‘Roxanne’ and the lead role of ‘Ariel’ in the company’s productions of Moulin Rouge (2003) and Footloose (2006) respectively.
She obtained her teaching qualifications in London via I.S.T.D. Modern Theatre Faculty (2003), following which she headed the Performing Arts Dance Faculty at St. Michael Foundation For Education in Malta (2000 – 2008), where year after year her students achieved excellent results both exam related and performance based, together with being part of the teaching faculty of the College of Jazz Dance, Malta (2003 – 2007).
Catherine has attended various workshops such as ISTD Teacher Training Chichester, UK (2003, 2004), Amici at the Med Masterclasses, Malta (2005) which led to her winning a scholarship at Kledi Kadiu Academy in Rome (2006) and Broadway A Tropea, Italy (2005, 2007).
Having moved to Amsterdam in 2008, she continues to develop her career from her new home base. Catherine has since also had the opportunity to attend masterclasses by various exceptional artists, such as Erick Bacon, Jason Winters, Wes Weldink, Adam Parsons and Kobi Rozenfeld among others and will continue to do so, to further her training.
